St. Vincent's hospitalists are a team of doctors whose professional focus is the general medical care of hospitalized patients.  Their major responsibility is the care of patients from admission through discharge.  They work in partnership with primary care physicians and specialists to ensure patients receive the best care possible while hospitalized.

Hospitalists bring to patients an expertise in the application and coordination of care for common acute disorders and add value beyond patient care by taking a leadership role in quality and patient safety initiatives, medical education and other key hospital projects.

The hospitalists are teaching faculty members of the Department of Medicine.  Additionally, they are board-certified in Internal Medicine, are BLS/ACLS certified, hospital employed, in-patient focused, are members of hospital committees and are members of the Medical Center Disaster Plan Committee.
